Maria Frischling

Biography

Maria E. Frischling is a Pittsburgh, PA native who has been practicing immigration law since 2022 and working in the immigration field since 2021. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2016 from Tulane University in New Orleans where she studied Communication and Spanish. Ms. Frischling graduated from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law with a Juris Doctor and Certificate of Immigration and Citizenship Law and Practice in May 2022. While attending Loyola, Ms. Frischling was a member of the Journal of Public Interest Law, serving as the Articles Editor on the 2021-2022 Executive Board, and worked as both a Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant. In 2021, she was awarded the Michael Maggio Immigrants' Rights Fellowship to work with Immigration Services and Legal Advocacy (ISLA), a non-profit organization based in New Orleans that provides pro bono representation for immigrants in detention and advocates for just and humane immigration policy. Her article Exposing Flagrantly Inhumane Uses of Solitary Confinement in U.S. Immigration Detention: A Case Study on Louisiana's Pine Prairie ICE Processing Center, 23 Loy. J. Pub. Int. L. 49 was published in the Loyola Journal of Public Interest Law's Spring 2022 issue and won "Best Overall Student Comment" for 2021-2022. Ms. Frischling also worked as a student practitioner in the Stuart H. Smith Center for Social Justice's Immigration Legal Clinic for two semesters and spent a summer clerking for the Pro Bono Project in New Orleans, LA.

Ms. Frischling is a member of the Louisiana State Bar, the Federal Bar Association, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Louisiana, the United States District Court in the Eastern District of Louisiana, and federal immigration courts nationwide. Her practice focuses primarily on family-based immigration cases, humanitarian-based relief, naturalization, and removal defense. She is fluent in Spanish and has a limited working proficiency in Italian.
